I’m excited to announce that I’ve launched a new video web based travel series with Schwinn! In the show I will host an adventure somewhere around the globe in which I’ll be showing one of the best ways to explore a city; by bike! I’ll make stops along the way in each city as I bike to my destination, seeing the local landscape and unique aspects of each city.
In the first episode, I visited Maui, Hawaii, which has some of the most breathtaking views in the world. I picked my bike up from West Maui Cycles and then I was off to explore the island! Maui is spread apart so I rode a lot in Lahaina, close by where I was staying at the Hyatt Regency Maui. Their rooms have gorgeous views of the ocean and the hotel concierge was very accommodating with my Schwinn. I visited TaquerEATa a few mornings for their insanely delicious breakfast tacos; yes, I’m a taco girl! I was lucky enough to be in town the weekend of the Banyan Tree Market, which is a fun market that has a lot of local art and souvenirs for sale under the massive banyan trees. It’s actually where I bought the clip-in flower that’s in my hair in some of the scenes. Next up, surfing with Maui Surfer Girls at Thousand Peaks! Biking and surfing, this was one of my favorite days on the island.
I rented a car with Hertz that fit bikes for the destinations that were farther away on the island. I drove to Pa’ia, a cute surf town and then took my bike out to ride through the streets. I stopped at Paia Bay Coffee for a bike break and did some shopping. Then we ventured over to Blue Hawaiian Helicopters to see the Haleakala Crater and the Hana Rainforest Preserve from 10,000 feet in the air. I highly recommend this experience! Kihei was the last town that I rode though on the west side of Maui. There I visited the Paia Fish Market for some fresh mahi-mahi and then my last stop was at South Shore Tiki Lounge for a well-deserved Mai Tai; that’s a wrap!
After I completed filming, we donated the Schwinn Cruisers to two remarkable teenagers, David and Abby who are a part of La‘akea in Maui, an organization that helps disabled youth and adults and is dedicated to enhancing the contribution of each individual through meaningful opportunities and productive work. David’s bike had recently been stolen, so he was beyond excited to have a shiny new blue Schwinn Cruiser. It was wonderful visiting La‘akea and learning about their program and such an amazing way to end the trip!
I hope you enjoy the video and will come back to view the next episode soon.
