America’s favorite bike brand celebrates the Paramount’s 75th anniversary with a new American-made model.
Madison, WI – October, 2013 – Schwinn, a division of Dorel Industries (TSX: DII.B, DII.A) is launching a limited edition of the Paramount, arguably America’s most popular 10-speed bicycle, which will be manufactured in Waterford, Wisconsin.
Schwinn has tapped Paramount engineering experts Marc Muller and Richard Schwinn, the great grandson of Schwinn founder Ignaz Schwinn, to create this anniversary model. Each of the 25 available bikes are customizable, complete with steel lugged frames, internal routing and decaling and paint options that let the rider capture the essence of the classic bike. After purchasing one of the 25 bikes, consumers are invited to visit the Waterford factory for a custom in-person fitting. Allowing for even more personalized rider options to fit their tastes and personalities, the Paramount will be available in three frame levels: the Paramount Air, Paramount Air front/stainless rear and Paramount full stainless.
In 1993, Richard Schwinn and Marc Muller purchased the Schwinn Paramount plant in Waterford, Wisconsin – where Paramount’s had been built since 1980 – to found the Waterford Precision Cycles.
“Schwinn and Paramount have been synonymous names and brands for so long, and we’re happy to have them back together for this special collaboration.” said Jeff Rogers, Global General Manager at Schwinn. “We asked Richard Schwinn if he and his team would be willing to collaborate with us to create a 75th anniversary Schwinn Paramount, and he answered with a resounding ‘yes,’ illustrating the passion this project has had from the outset.”
